The Falklands War gave the British Governement an excuse to build a fortress on the islands, but was there another reason to fortify the Falklands other than to deter any future pathetic attempts to steal our territory?

Could it be that the huge coal and oil deposits in British Antarctica might have been the real reason?

Someone had said in a responce to someone elses question about a job in the railroad that "you will know someone who will be either killed or seriously injured" not exact wording but same message. Sounds scary. I am a somewhat clumsy maybe goofy at times type of person who cannot make quick decisions based on "common sense" so would you recommend that I stay away from a career like this?

As we know the earth crust is shrinking naturally due to cooling of the earth, causing earth quakes, volcanic eruptions etc. The centre of the earth is very hot. Can it be that by taking out the enormous volumes of oil and gas, coal etc, the earth's crust is shrinking faster, causing more pressures, frictions, more hot gasses escaping from the earth into the atmosphere and sea etc, and thus causing the lately more rapidly increase of global temperatures?

I have a HUGE conflict between my family and the landlord.

1st he sent a letter saying he wants to do a rental inspection because their are lawn clippings off to the side of our yard under the trees. NOT VISIBLE UNLESS YOU ARE ON OUR PROPERTY

2nd bad on our part we have pets (reptiles) when agreed to none. We have 2 turtles 4 lizards. (all in enclosures and are never out of enclosure)

3rd He has stepped foot on our property at least twice at our knowledge without permission or notice. Now the law here says he has to have 48 hour notice before being on this property. The first time he dug up a tree that was in the backyard. Didn't say anything befoer hand or even after he did it. (it was a dead tree) Then we did it on tuesday the 10th and took OUR hose that was hooked to OUR faucet and used it to water HIS plants (he owns a piece of land behind our house) Did NOT say anything before grabbing the hose or after (and it does cost money for our water we use)

I have been accused of a felony I did not commit. The police came to my office and informed me of a warrant for my arrest. I was never informed of the court hearing, however this is a case that was opened the first time FOUR years ago, the second time THREE yars ago, and the third time last June. the police ended up not taking me to jail (in spite of the warrant) after they heard the details. However, they did inform me that the warrant is a "Grand Jury" warrant and although I have had the warrant quashed the case is still pending and I don't understand the difference (again) between a regular jury and a grand jury. I have been informed my case is sealed and therefor they are not revealing what supposed evidence they have. How can the be? Please help. I'm a bit concerned about this.

We are "Best Friends" and sometimes lovers, but he drinks too much and is only 7 months out of a nasty 12 year relationship. When we met, we connected right away, and have ever since. BUT I do not drink like he does, and he says he is not ready to give up his freedom/partying yet. He is sincere when he tells me that my 2 children and I are everything good and wholesome that he has been looking for (even though my avatar might look suspicious lol) and that he wants me to give him some time, and when he gets through this funk he's in, we are the ones that he wants to wake up to every day for the rest of the time we'll have him. What on earth should I do? He asked me to give him six months, and by Christmas, he thinks he will have it worked out of his system. We are the same age and are getting older. Should I bide my time and wait to see if he is really not stringing me along? I am 2 years out of a bad marriage, and I am ready to get serious again. He & my kids love each other.

I'm Taylor, and I'm a 16 year old girl. My family is thinking we have to move because of our money problems, and I really don't want to. I've lived in this house for years! I have a little brother, and a little sister. I've argued this with my parents before, and they said we wouldn't move. Well, this morning, I found some papers in the computer room about a month later with properties on them. And I'm very upset about it. Seriously, I could cry. I'm thinking I might as well go through with it, but I will not like it at all. I'm feeling so embarassed, especially thinking I have to tell my friends about it if they ask.

I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with this kind of problem, and advice to give me. I really want to help my parents out, but it's hard. I can't drive yet, and to get to a job, I'd have to ride my bike, and it'd take a lot of time.

Please, give me any advice and/or personal stories! I could really use them right now.

I don't understand the hatred they have for their fellow american.
They make it seem that they are the only ones paying taxes and they decide where it's spent.
They have no problem supporting Iraqi's yet don't give damn that americans are suffering.
They seem to think they are gods.
We live in a society....we don't live isolated. We have to get along but the hatred is so venomus it's scary.

It's been 56 hours since I had my upper right wisdom tooth extracted, I followed the dentists orders and didn't smoke or suck anything or spit for 24 hours, after 24 hours I did smoke but I have been smoking easily, not fully inhaling. I have rinsed with the salt water and am still taking my pain medication because it feels like I am still swollen. I can't see up in my tooth socket to see if there's a clot but I can see some white color that looks like it's forming on the outside or something. I don't think I should get one since I followed the guidelines, I hope not.
