I have to think Honda/Toyota/BMW/Mercedes and Ferrari are not happy about spending huge sums on F1 but getting no exposure in the US market. Spyker sells cars too, don't they? The US is still the single largest market in the world for automobiles, so there will be a lot of pressure on Ecclestone to work something out.

Watkin's Glen seems like the place too me. Besides the NYC crowds, lots of folks would drive down from Montreal and Toronto. If the USGP was held there, thousands of folks would take in both Montreal and the USGP. I don't think a hot weather place would work because the USGP pretty much has to be held within a week of the Montreal race. Las Vegas in late June might be a bit too hot to handle. Obviously, you can't have a race in Montreal in March unless it's a snowmobile race.

Tony George and Bernie Ecclestone failed to reach an agreement for a US race to be staged at the brickyard in 2008. Ecclestone is in discussion about a possible Vegas race, most likely a street circuit, but they are not far enough along for it to be included in the 2008 calender. Tony has 'left the door open' for F1 to return to Indy in the future. Singapore and Valencia are new additions to next years calender, with speculation mounting that San Marino (imola) will be back if the necessary improvements are made. unfortunately, at this moment in time, it looks like there won't be a US GP in 2008. very disappointing for the US fans.

I am pretty sure they will have a US GP but the track is still up in the air. I have heard rumors they have considered a temporary street course in Las Vegas, a temporary street course in NYC, a street course in Long Beach California(was the US GP years ago). They could just as easily go to one of the better american road course tracks like Watkins Glen (home of the US GP for many, many years), road america in wisconsin, road atlanta, the infield road course at daytona, laguna seca, or sonoma.

I heard a rumor that they might have a night race in Las Vegas. How cool would that be?

There are other tracks in the us. I'm sure they'll figure it out before the seasons over.
