In my school, the standard of beauty is blonde, slutty, and so-called "perfect features" (aka, exact same eyes nose mouth whatever) basically you have to look like every other blonde in the school to be considered "beautiful." I know one 8-year-old girl I babysit for who had gorgeous red hair but dyed her hair blonde because her next door neighbor (a total skank who is a sophomore) died her hair blonde.
I know several drop-dead gorgeous brunettes (one of them is a professional model) who aren't considered pretty because they aren't blonde. What's up with that?

BTW, I'm not trying to offend anyone with their hair color - one of my best friends is a blonde, and I have absolutely nothing against them. I was just curious about what people thought of this.

My friend & her 2 kids along with myself & my 2 kids are planning a little vacation this summer. We are all set to see what Atlantic City is like but some of the info I find says it's not a very nice place. We want the dirt! Will we have fun or not? I bought 2002 Ford Escape w/ 35K miles w/ 1more year on warranty(bought in 2004) The engine light was on and it ran a little funny. In the Fall of 2004 we went to have the light and engine checked out. Ford service dept. says"it's just wiring" They did some work on it and said that we would need a new o2 sensor soon. Middle of 2006 it starts to run worse than it had been -same problem worse. fixed o2 sensor- since then(january 07) it's been in the shop 5 times for the same problem that was going on in 2004 only progressively worse. (engine sputtering and occasionally dying w/ little acceleration) and BAD gas mileage. I reamed the service department this last time because I'm fed up. They ran all the tests and came back saying the car history (from the beginning) shows that the car has only been running on 2 cylinders(it's a 4) I need some help. Is ford going to replace my car? Can it be fixed? ANyone have the same thing happen?

My daughter is now 10 months old and she wont sleep at night. Shes up 3-4 times a night and around 3-4 am she gets up and wants to play. I tried leaving her alone but she stands up in the crib and starts screaming like someones attacking her. I let her cry it out but that only knocks her out for a few hours then shes at it again. Shes still eating every three hours and she eats well. she gets a bath everynight. I have a one bedroom Apt. but she stays in her crib not in my bed Ill sit down with her usually at 8-830 and put her to bed shes good till 12am but then it all goes down hill from there. she rubs her eyes alot I asked the PED. and she said they were fine I even got a second opinion and they said the same. My biggest concern though is that I find myself loosing my patience with her and I now its not her fault (I guess that makes me terrible I dont know). Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

What's true is that people who are most critical of evolutionary science have never studied it.

Evolutionists are masters at covering the flaws and weaknesses oftheir theory.

Here just a few question they will ALWAYS dodge!

Where did the space for the universe come from?

2. Where did matter come from?

3. Where did the laws of the universe come from (gravity, inertia, etc.)?

4. How did matter get so perfectly organized?

5. Where did the energy come from to do all the organizing?

6. When, where, why, and how did life come from dead matter?

7. When, where, why, and how did life learn to reproduce itself?

8. With what did the first cell capable of sexual reproduction reproduce?

9. Why would any plant or animal want to reproduce more of its kind since this would only make more mouths to feed and decrease the chances of survival? (Does the individual have a drive to survive, or the species? How do you explain this?)

A guy who lives in my building about 50,, we talked and were friendly for a long time, but just in the building.. My mom watched his cat for a week one time..
I saw him one day and he made a voice imitating my Mom in her italian accent in high pitched tone and he goes "hows your cat".. runs down the stairs, laughs and says your mom is always saying that..

I felt really offended,, he was making fun of my mother.. I havent been friendly to him since, when i see him in the street i walk the other way.

My wife and I have a fabulous marriage -- great communication, very well prepared for our first child, who arrived this month. My wife and I just had our first parenting fight. My sister visited this weekend and was a bit obsessed with our baby. I agree with my wife that we need to set some boundaries for future visits. But my wife said some surprising things in the argument -- implying that leaving our baby with my sister might be "dangerous" and suggesting she might have bizarre intentions with baby.

I'm having trouble stomaching this talk, and it makes me angry to hear it from someone I love so much. I am a little frustrated that all the literature and pop-culture advice to a new mom says "trust your instincts", but in this case, I feel like that's reinforcing an irrational fear on her part. All the same, that reinforcement makes me irrelevant when I try to convince my wife that her fears are unfounded.

New moms, what's your advice for me to effectively talk this out?

Someone totaled my car in a 3-car accident a few weeks ago. The person-at-fault's insurance company refuses to pay for my rental car and is dragging their feet on providing the necessary paperwork so that I can go forward with my gap insurance company and the auto financing company. The other two drivers have the same insurance company. I think they're trying to force me to file it as a collision claim with my insurance, but then I'm out my deductible. This doesn't seem right to me. Any opinions? Anybody experienced this before?

This happened in Texas. I can give more details if someone thinks they can give me some advice.

Can anyone out there point me towards independent (and preferably peer-reviewed) research on whether recycling paper produced in North America is good or bad for the environment? I have read positions both for and against paper recycling but they always seem to come from biased sources (i.e. environmental activists or industry activists). I would really like to find some actual scientific research on the topic so I can make the most environmentally wise decision.
