In my school, the standard of beauty is blonde, slutty, and so-called "perfect features" (aka, exact same eyes nose mouth whatever) basically you have to look like every other blonde in the school to be considered "beautiful." I know one 8-year-old girl I babysit for who had gorgeous red hair but dyed her hair blonde because her next door neighbor (a total skank who is a sophomore) died her hair blonde.
I know several drop-dead gorgeous brunettes (one of them is a professional model) who aren't considered pretty because they aren't blonde. What's up with that?

BTW, I'm not trying to offend anyone with their hair color - one of my best friends is a blonde, and I have absolutely nothing against them. I was just curious about what people thought of this.

These days, there are very few blondes who are actually pretty (even though it seems that your school hasn't come to realize this yet). There are some simple reasons for this.

1. EVERYONE is dying their hair blonde. It's no longer a unique trait, which is what made it so appealing in the first place.
2. Fake blondes don't look good.
3. There are very few natural blondes. Most "blondes" have dirty blonde hair (which I consider brown) and highlight it with blonde. Natural blondes are the only ones who truly look good, in my opinion, and some of those don't even look good.
4. Blonde is now code for skank, as evidenced by your story (this is the big one).

The reason that all these girls are going blonde is because, in high school, guys are immature and just want some object to tote around- they don't want a significant other. Girls, craving attention from guys, go blonde, but bring the wrong kind of attention to themselves.

Because of this, guys now see blonde hair as some symbol for a whore. If you look around the internet, you'll be surprised to see that most guys actually prefer dark hair.

Standards of beauty vary from area to area. Some countries find that blondes are not as attractive as dark haired women and Asian eyes are far more fecthing to some than others. Some places find more plump women beautiful and some like their chics thin as a rail. Alot of it has to do with the ethnicity of the region you are in. Some of it has to do with societal influences in the area. The media impacts how we see beauty as well. It's all relative. In my high school days, girls who were rich, dark haired and tan with dark eyes were the "popular" girls. Not to say the blondes didn't get some attention too but the majority of the "popular" crowd was made up of dark-featured girls, mostly of Italian descent. It really varies from area to area. In my college, the red heads were the HOTTEST thing going. Go figure!

That's just how it works where you live ( =

ok the fact about this is that most men prefer blondes because in all of the movies or anything the hot popular girls are always blonde. I have been brunette, red head, and blonde. Naturall y I am blonde but my husband wanted my hair red, then my hair lightened up and started to brown so he wanted it blonde agian . The point i'm trying to make is that men do not know what they want and they just stereo-type us thinkingthat we will fit some fantasy image they have and most of us just follow that image that they have just to please them, because the more people that like you the more popular you are.

see people should not get caught up in stereo-types, i feel bad for that little girl furthermore i want to know why her parents are allowing her to dye her hair at 8 years old that is sending a really terrible message to today's youth, whats next a boob job at 14 . I'm a brunette and i am proud of it. both my parents and my brother are all blonde's, but i am perfectly suited standing out for being different. this is me..

mb cos most celebs r blond. i mean, w/ angelina jolie being a rare exception. just read this little saying:

blonds are pretty,
redheads are smart,
but it takes a brunette to steal a guy's heart!
