he said to noah "I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."

don't you like how he made a point to be very very specific. that way when he did crap like destroying entire cities for the same reason he flooded the earth, we couldn't call him a liar, because it wasn't the entire earth AND it wasn't a flood.

2 points to god!

I am in my 60's and have applied for my first passport. Today, 2 months after applying I received a letter from the Dept of State. I live in California. Because my birth ceritificate name is different than my married name they asked for: 3 public records that include my current name, date and "Place of Birth." I have been looking thru many documents that I think will work OK, But....not one of them lists my "Place of Birth." Now what do I do??? I was born in Iowa and have lived in California for over 60 years.

The female reporter on ESPN has absolutely no finesse. When Leicht made it to the winners circle she was impatient and rushed his first taste of victory! Then his best friend comes to congratulate him and she pulled on his arm and spun him towards her to finish her mandatory questions! I mean come on this kid wins his first victory and all she cared about was getting in her obligatory interview!

Sorry no class on her part!

it all started at night in the living room of my new house............me and my brother were playing a video game called rampage..........and then my bro picked this horrible red pig character that looked like the devil........so i was creeped out.....and i had this bad feeling........about that nasty red pig...........so then whe begun the game........and all of a sudden that pig started hitting my character........and when me and my bro play we never beat each other we only get the buildings......so i was like stop it to him but he wouldn't stop it.......it was like the pig was contoling him or something........and i hit my bro........but all he would do was laugh at me and it was like he was possed by that character.....i was scared...a feeling of dread came over me.....and i felt like some force was in the pig or in my bro or something.... so i was scared....so we turned it off.

later that night i was listening to a song that my other bro sings...........and that was before bedtime and when i fell asleep i had a dream......i woke up kinda scared but not really.......my dream was a nighmare....and it was about these 2 little girls they were dead and they were under u know where ..........they had died somehow nut they could not remember.....why...and i was there with them brushing their hair and trying to help them figure out how they died....and so one of the little girls had her face all burned and the other on had her face deformed...so in the morning i woke up and i was telling my mom the dream and then i finished....and i was like maybe i had that nighmare because of the song i was listening to.......it went........swimming through the ashes of another life..........meaning swimming through the ashes of death.......so i was all freaked out...and i was repeating that phrase and going up the stairs and i reached the top step and ...........i was turning to go to my room....when out of the corner of my eye i see the death...........that thing that has a black coat on with a hoodie and i saw it there floting in my mom's room and i took one look at it.......and i dashed down the stairs and i was pale.......my mom was like what is wrong .............and i told her what i saw......and she got scared and i was so pale i was about to faint seriously...........so that was the end of that

next night i was falling asleep in my room with my mom bye my side.......but i felt so nervouse and scared..........but eventually i fell asleep......when i woke up it was 6:28 am and i remember the exact time because i was terrified!!...........so i woke up and the i had had another bad dream.......my first thought was i'm gonna run to my mom's room but then i remember she would be downstairs............so i was like no i can't go all the way down stairs i can't take seeing the death thing again......i would faint......so i was like well i can turn on the lights........so i did ............and i was like i should go back to sleep but i could not so i was like i'll just saty her till my mom comes up here to check on me .............but then at the end of my bed...i saw this skeleton thing looking at me from the other end of my bed ......so i jumped out of my bed and i ran downstairs like crazy.......i was pale again.......and then i told my mom and everyone what had happened and tehy were scared.........biut i was terrified.....they had not seen death they had not seen the skeleton and the dreams.......and i was the only one seeing the things.....so i was scared.....and later that morning my uncle told me and my mom that he had a dream that a little girl was dead but she was telling him how she died and he doesn't remember though so he was scared too

Why the state goes to war is not a mystery – at least the general reasons are not mysterious. War is an excuse for spending money on its friends. It can punish enemies that are not going with the program. It intimidates other states tempted to go their own way. It can pave the way for commercial interests linked to the state. The regime that makes and wins a war gets written up in the history books. So the reasons are the same now as in the ancient world: power, money, glory.
Why the bourgeoisie back war is another matter. It is self-evidently not in their interest. The government gains power at their expense. It spends their money and runs up debt that is paid out of taxes and inflation. It fosters the creation of permanent enemies abroad who then work to diminish our security at home. It leads to the violation of privacy and civil liberty.
War is incompatible with a government that leaves people alone to develop their lives in an atmosphere of freedom.
Nonetheless, war with moral themes – we are the good guys working for God and they are the bad guys doing the devil's work – tends to attract a massive amount of middle class support. People believe the lies, and, once exposed, they defend the right of the state to lie. People who are otherwise outraged by murder find themselves celebrating the same on a mass industrial scale. People who harbor no hatred toward foreigners find themselves attaching ghastly monikers to whole classes of foreign peoples. Regular middle class people, who otherwise struggle to eke out a flourishing life in this vale of tears, feel hatred well up within them and confuse it for honor, bravery, courage, and valor.
Why? Nationalism is one answer. To be at war is to feel at one with something much larger than oneself, to be a part of a grand historical project. They have absorbed the civic religion from childhood – Boston tea, cherry trees, log cabins, Chevrolet – but it mostly has no living presence in their minds until the state pushes the war button, and then all the nationalist emotions well up within them.
Nationalism is usually associated with attachment to a particular set of state managers that you think can somehow lead the country in a particular direction of which you approve. So the nationalism of the Iraq war was mostly a Republican Party phenomenon. All Democrats are suspected as being insufficiently loyal, of feeling sympathy for The Enemy, or defending such ideas as civil liberty at a time when the nation needs unity more than ever.
You could tell a Republican nationalist during this last war because the words peace and liberty were always said with a sneer, as if they didn't matter at all. Even the Constitution came in for a pounding from these people. Bush did all he could to consolidate decision-making power unto himself, and even strongly suggested that he was acting on God's orders as Commander in Chief, and his religious constitutionalist supporters went right along with it. They were willing to break as many eggs as necessary to make the war omelet. I've got an archive of a thousand hate mails to prove it.
But nationalism is not the only basis for bourgeois support for war. Long-time war correspondent Chris Hedges, in his great book War Is a Force that Gives Us Meaning (First Anchor, 2003) argues that war operates as a kind of canvas on which every member of the middle and working class can paint his or her own picture. Whatever personal frustrations exist in your life, however powerless you feel, war works as a kind of narcotic. It provides a means for people to feel temporarily powerful and important, as if they are part of some big episode in history. War then becomes for people a kind of lurching attempt to taste immortality. War gives their lives meaning.
War is the devil's sacrament. It promises to bind us not with God but with the nation state. It grants not life but death. It provides not liberty but slavery. It lives not on truth but on lies, and these lies are themselves said to be worthy of defense. It exalts evil and puts down the good. It is promiscuous in encouraging an orgy of sin, not self-restraint and thought. It is irrational and bloody and vicious and appalling. And it claims to be the highest achievement of man.
It is worse than mass insanity. It is mass wallowing in evil.
And then it is over. People oddly forget what took place. The rose wilts and the thorns grow but people go on with their lives. War no longer inspires. War news becomes uninteresting. All those arguments with friends and family – what were they about anyway? All that killing and expense and death – let's just avert our eyes from it all. Maybe in a few years, once the war is out of the news forever and the country we smashed recovers some modicum of civilization, we can revisit the event and proclaim it glorious. But for now, let's just say it never happened.
That seems to be just about where people stand these days with the Iraq War. Iraq is a mess, hundreds of thousands are killed and maimed, billions of dollars are missing, the debt is astronomical, and the world seethes in hatred toward the conquering empire. And what does the warmongering middle class have to say for itself? Pretty much what you might expect: nothing.
People have long accused the great liberal tradition of a dogmatic attachment to peace. It would appear that this is precisely what is necessary in order to preserve the freedom necessary for all of us to find true meaning in our lives.
Do we reject war and all its works? We do reject them.

I have never bought a new car or motorcycle. But I want to buy a new Ninja 250. I went to American Auto Sports and saw one on the show room floor. The sales guy said it is $2999.00. I said great I will take it.

I know there is Tax, Tag, and Title fees. So I figured that the total price might be up to $3500. But no... he brought me back a quote of $4303. I said what is this? He said Tax, Tag, Title and Destination fee's. Tax is about $300 (expected) and Tag and title is about $200. I asked him why the hell is there so much more in that equation, and he said there is a shipping fee to get it to the store. Well I walked out. He tried to stop me and said he could negotiate to about $3800. I still said no.

My question. Is this a typical final price for a band new bike, whose MSRP is $2999.00? My goodness, with all the extra fat, that is about half of the price of the bike.

I am a twenty year old woman, and I am currently home for the summer from college, however this past week I have run into so much heart ache I cannot bare it alone. As I said I live with my mother, however last week, my mother's husband and I got into a fist fight. It started with an argument between him and I and then my mother came in between us, he pushed her therefore I snapped and pushed him back. the fight escalated from there and he grabbed me and tried to throw me out of the house, I punched him in his face several times. but it was a loosing battle because I lost my mother in the process...she chose to side with him. I am hurt. This has been an on going issue since I was seven years old along with my sisters we have never gotten along. However I know that she has made her choice. How do you move on from this, how can I love her. How can I have a relationship with her, when I don't trust her anymore.
