According to Judaism it is saturday. If you're not Jewish, then it's not a sin.

In the New Testament, nine of the Ten Commandments were repeated (Mark 10:19, Luke 18:20, Rom. 13:9). The only commandment not repeated was to "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Ex. 20:8). The early Christians met on the first day of the week (Matt. 28:1, Mark 16:2,9, Luke 24:1, John 20:1, 19, Acts 20:7, I Cor. 16:2) probably because, 1) Sunday was the day of the Lord's resurrection, 2) the six post resurrection appearances were on Sunday, and 3) the Holy Spirit came on Sunday. Rev. 1:10 called Sunday the Lord's Day. And, in scripture, the number eight is always used to mean "new beginning," i.e. -- eight people on the Ark, etc.

But more than anything, it's not what day you choose to rest that concerns God, it's why you do it in the first place (I Sam. 16:7).

Therefore don’t let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a sabbath day. These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is the Messiah. Let no one disqualify you, insisting on ascetic practices and the worship of angels, claiming access to a visionary realm and inflated without cause by his fleshly mind.
Colossians 2:16-18

One person considers one day to be above another day. Someone else considers every day to be the same. Each one must be fully convinced in his own mind. Whoever observes the day, observes it to the Lord. Whoever eats, eats to the Lord, since he gives thanks to God; and whoever does not eat, it is to the Lord that he does not eat, yet he thanks God.
Romans 14:5-6

You're only mistake is calling Sunday the Sabbath. Saturday is the old testament Sabbath, Sunday is for Christians, it is called the Lords day. The old testament law(which includes the Saturday Sabbath) was nailed to the cross. We are no longer under the law. We are new creatures and don't need law to live a holy life.

It doesn't matter which day we call the Sabbath; it matters which day God calls the Sabbath.

The 7th day was set aside at creation to be the Sabbath day. (Genesis 2:1-3)

When the Israelites were called out of bondage God reminded them of this before Mt Sinai when they gathered manna. (Exodus 16)

Later, God wrote it in stone for all generations to come. The 10 commandments were not nailed to the cross, the additional laws God gave Moses were.

Many also claim that Sunday became the day of worship in the NT. No where does the Bible support this. The 1st day of the week (Sunday) is mentioned 8 times in the NT. None of these occurances note that the day of worship was changed. (When Jesus 1st appeared to the disciples after His resurrection they were gathered "for fear of the Jews" - they thought they might be hunted down and crucified next. They were not gathered to worship God on Sunday.)

The Book of Acts records eighty-four Sabbath worship meetings decades after Christ’s resurrection by both Gentile and Jewish Christians. (Read Acts 13:14, 15, 27, 42-44; 16:13; 17:2,3; 18:4, 11.)

It is a sin not to worship God on the 7th day. But don't take my word for it, or anyone elses. You need to study it out for yourself. There are 3 good study web pages below. PRAY about it while you study & allow God to teach you His truth. To follow others and not God (searching & praying) is to be lost.

The original sabbath (shabbat) from Biblical times is Saturday (actually from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset). It was the 7th day that God "rested" after 6 days of creation. Christians took on Sunday, possibly to be more like the pagans who observed Sunday and because Jesus may have resurrected on Sunday.

Seventh-Day Adventists are Christians who believe Saturday is the real sabbath.

My Sabbath is abiding in Christ 24/7. Do you notice the 7 in that?

It is good to have a Sunday Sabbath, but what about the other days? Do you live like the devil? Then that would be a sin to live like that the other days.

Sabbath means 7th. God created, then rested the 7th day. Adam abided in Christ 24/7 on the Sabbath, until the fall of mankind. Spiritual death happened when denied the tree of Life. Then Physical death happened. To abide in Christ, one has to first be born of God, born of His Spirit, cleansed by His Blood, joint heirs with King Jesus & part of the family of God.

If You have a Sabbath every Sunday, then that would be every 7 days. See? Also, Pentecost happened on a Sunday. 7X7=49+1(day)=50th day = Pentecost, A Sunday.

Dear plittle_stevey,

Scripture tells us that the Sabbath was made for man. After creating the world God wasn't tired- but he rested.

The Bible both exhorts and encourages the idea of attending church on Sunday and also reminds us that we need a day of rest- to especially set aside for the purpose of quieting ourselves before God.

For me as a minister, Sunday is a hard day to have a Sabbath (in fact it's one of the hardest working days). i typically take Tuesdays for my Sabbath where i have an extended quiet time and prayer time- and usually try to not work after work but to do something fun and relaxing ...

Kindly,

Nickster

The sabbath is on a Saturday not Sunday. If one breaks the ten commandents it is a sin and the sabbath is one of them. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY.

Radio is 100% right. Sabbath observance is only incumbent upon the people to whom the law was given. Sunday observance was instituted by the early Church in an attempt to define itself from Judaism.

It would have to depend on your religion and beliefs, I assume. According to the Christian religion, however, the sabbath day isn't literally referring to going to church or doing no work on the sabbath, it just means that you should remember God and put aside time for Him. I suppose hardcore fundamentalists might say otherwise, however.
