I believe Paul is the greatest hero of Judaism since Moses.
I personally believe he knew that if he did not do something drastic then the precious covenant given to the Jews could be lost and redirected to the followers of Jesus, the Jewish Messiah.
After reading about the two sons of Isaac where it says Jacob would even use deception to get the blessing of the covenant from his father it is not hard to see how a very religious Jew would do whatever was necessary to make sure Judaism maintained the covenant.
He "converted" and then helped introduce some very powerful and wise changes to the message of Jesus that would insure the theological superiority of Judaism over these "renegades:.
1) Saul introduced the concept that the Christians should target their message for the gentiles thereby leaving the Jews alone.
2) Saul introduced Mithraism and polytheism into the foundation of faith to attract the pagans and gentiles.
3)Saul negated the Divine Law thereby leaving Christians without the ability to fulfill the holy covenant and establishing the laws of God on the earth.
4)Paul also negated the practice of circumcism which was a symbol of the covenant since the times of Abraham thereby sealing the fate for Christianity.
Genesis 17:9-10 ---Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.
This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
Galatians 5:2 ---- Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.
What do you think…… a possible scenario ?
We cannot blame the Jews for what one man chose to do on his own accord but you have to admire the superior intelligence and planning !
