Own a business

This sounds easier than it appears. I suppose it would depend on the business. I owned my own restaurant with my first husband back in the 70's. I have got to tell you that was the hardest job I have ever had. It was in a town of only around 500 and it was a town of farmers. My grandmother (Bless her soul), had owned it for about 20 or so years and wanted to retire, so we bought it. I had waitressed for years as I was very young back then. Anyway, point of this question, is I worked my rear off in that business. I had to do the ordering, the bookkeeping, the waiting of tables (my husband worked the grill ), I did the baking and cooking of the meats, such as roasts, turkeys, etc., I did the hiring and firing, etc. I paid the taxes. Then the only day we were closed was on Sundays and on that day, we had to go into the restaurant and scrub the place and clean everything really good. Plus every evening, after closing, we had to wash the floors, scrub the grills, etc. The floors had to be washed each evening because it was a farming community and the farmers usually had mud on their boots. Also, the farmers were at our door waiting for their coffee and pancakes before we even got there in the morning. We didn't even get a chance to walk into the restaurant and get our own coffee going before we had to immediately start in waiting on these fellows. I couldn't wait to sell my restaurant and find a job working for someone else.

I'd own my own business, but be a 'silent' partner and make my husband do the whole thing.

My own business, because I set my schedule, my own rules, my own pay. Everything to my advantage, I don't have to obey anyone.
