Maybe a stupid question, but.... If there is nothing in space, (you can be right next to a large explosion and not get hurt unless debris actually hits you) then how come it takes so long to travel in space as opposed to instantaneously (if there is nothing seperating point A and point B)? There has to be something there, right? Thanks for your help!

So, my exclusive boyfriend of 3 years is still friends with his ex, the girl who he "went on a break" with and asked me out less than 2 weeks later.
He let me know in advance that he was going to "hang out" with her. When he got home, he was very open about everything. He told me that they went to her house for dinner with her family and then they went to the movies. I asked him about the movie and he said, "We saw 'The Reaping', even though I wanted to see 'Blades of Glory' ". I had already felt uncomfortable that the two of them went to a movie together alone and when he said that, I couldn't help but say, "Well, the girl always chooses the movie." He got very upset and insisted it wasn't a date. I asked, "Did you pay for her ticket?" He said, "Yes, but that doesn't make it a date. I was just being a gentleman." Well, he is very traditional about chivalry and I am not, but even so, I don't think it applies to so-called platonic friends. Does it? I still feel like it was a date.

If you ruled the world for a year on the condition that at the end of the year you would die, what changes would you make to it?
For example- I would legalize marijuana, and governmentally distribute it, thus negating much smuggling, and creating a source of funding for myself. Then I would empty the vaults of the Vatican, and use the money to build hospitals, and schools, water treatment facilities, and farms in the nations poorest countries.

Three men( English, French, and Irish) are stranded on an island and caught by canibals. A man driving a car saw two men chasing after a half-nude woman. The woman crossed the street ahead of his car, followed by both men, still in hot pursuit. In order to save the woman from being raped, the driver accelerated and hit one of the men.

Now, as it turns out, neither of the men was trying to rape the woman. One was her boyfriend and the other a friend. She was drunk and had stormed out of the house after an argument with the boyfriend. The men were simply trying to catch up and bring her home.

The driver was charged with aggravated assault for striking one of the men with his vehicle.

Here's the question. Should the driver's punishment be lessened because he believed the pursuers were attempting to rape the woman? Should he go free, since his intentions were good? Should the punishment be more severe because he struck an innocent man? What are your thoughts?
