An annulment happens within the first month to six months depending on the state that you live in and it's like the marriage never happened. It's also less paperwork. A divorce is much more detailed and usually involves community property and even child issues with support and custody and such.

An annulment is a way of saying that the marriage never happened. It is as if there was no marriage whatsoever. This means there is no property division, custody issues, zilch.

It usually isn't granted by a judge without agreement by both parties, and after a particular time period, you can't obtain it. Check your local state statutes for more info.

A divorce is a formal process of ending a marriage legally. It does require that you and your spouse agree to a division of property and custody of a child, if one exists as a result of the marriage. There are different types of divorces, a majority are filed as 'irreconcilable differences', sometimes called the 'no-fault' divorce. More ugly divorces are for infidelity, violence, or other similarly unpleasant reasons.

Big Super is right....

An annulment is important if you are a religious person.
It means you made a mistake when you married. (According to the Catholic Church, for example, if you married by the church and you didn't know your husband was gay or was into drugs or something serious, then you have grounds for an annulment. In other words, you can marry again by the church.) It is a very long and tiresome procedure, but I know of three people who have gone through it.

A divorce is civil law, the law of men and society. Religion has nothing to do with this.

Listen carefully! It depends, are you talking religiously or legally!
Religiously-What God puts together, LET NO MAN put asunder! Till death do you part!
Legally-The state will divorce you...they give you a piece of paper to do it! But if that's all it takes, it wasn't that real to begin with, right? Annulment-Grounds for a annulment can be simply that you were intoxicated and knew not of what you were doing!

An annulment is a legal decision that no marriage ever existed -- usually because a contract does not exist (for example, one person was underage, or someone lied about something critical before the marriage, or someone was actually married to someone else at the time the supposed marriage took place).

an annulment is usually when the marriage hasn't;t gone past the year point, or was never consummated, and it differs from a divorce by actually erasing off the books like it never existed in the first place...there is a criteria list to see if these things apply to you or not, so best to check it out first...

annulment makes it like the marriage never happened, but has to be done within a short period of time since the marriage happened.

By defination , there is no difference.
The catholic church uses the term of annul because they feel it interpretes to "how did that happen;poor souls. I wasn't looking,so it didn't happen.
