If you were the ruler of the world for a day, what would you change?

If you ruled the world for a year on the condition that at the end of the year you would die, what changes would you make to it?
For example- I would legalize marijuana, and governmentally distribute it, thus negating much smuggling, and creating a source of funding for myself. Then I would empty the vaults of the Vatican, and use the money to build hospitals, and schools, water treatment facilities, and farms in the nations poorest countries.

2. legalize homosexual marriage and allow for shared benefits.
3. I would limit the amount that college Presidents could earn in contrast to how much their staff/teachers are paid.
4. Work on making food and water safety for all, especially poorer nations.

I would institute a world representative republican government and end national divisions. At the end of the year, my Presidency would end and there would be a global election for a World President who would have very limited powers. There would be a global congress/parliament that would make laws for the world. I would place all military forces worldwide under civilian control, and then promptly abolish the military and use some of the money that goes to military spending to fund a global police force, and for aid to impoverished nations.

All private militaries would be rendered unlawful. There would be a right to bear arms, up to small arms, but no grenades and other military hardware.

I would institute a global program of space exploration where the financial resources of the world would be diverted to a Global NASA that would be focused on creating energy product and resource mining in outer space, followed by habitat creation and terraforming.

All individuals would have their individual rights protected and have the right to vote, worship, speak and otherwise exercise the fundamental rights of man. I'd fund education worldwide and institute population controls to keep the population globally at the current levels and gradually reduce the population to 5 billion while increasing the standard of living for all.

Give incentives for the "greenest" products
1% income tax
Set a high tax rate on luxury items bought
Institute Equal rights for all, regardless of ethnicity, nationality, age, religion or sex.
Open a penal colony on Mars for the worst offenders only.
Do away with special privileges for people with children, if they want them, pay for them.
Do away with borders.
Free Internet, people should have the right to information.
Do away with the "Person" status of business
No tax breaks for businesses
Institute a true world wide Democratic Republic with real representation for all people.

1. "Hooke Pokie" dance and song would be sung every hour at 50 minutes past the hour between the hours of 10 AM - 8 PM. Followed by forced laughing until the hour was up.

Anyone who did not comply with said rule would be subject to bondage where they were forced to watch eithor: Tele Tubbies, Golden Girls, or Full House for 15 days.

Good ideas, except for the marijuana, I would enact tougher laws against smuggling and stiffer penalties for dealers instead of users. Also tougher laws against pedophiles and violent sex offenders. More money for schools and social programs like women's shelters and I would end the war in Iraq and bring our soldiers home!

Emptying the vatican is a good start. I would remove all heads of government world wide and replace them with people who know what they are doing..and are willing and able to work together for peace. There would be no hunger..for I would not allow people to get so filthy rich and others to do without...it would be a "share" situation"...and no one would be denied medical care. i would not allow welfare for more than one baby After that theyre on their own
