I work at a math tutoring center. Sometimes we are deluged with students in "precalculus" with take home tests. At the top of the page is written "you may get help from any source available to you." I've seen my share of take home tests before but never one with such a disclaimer! Instead its "your work must be your own." The students remark that their teacher can do the math but can't explain it. Some don't even know how to begin, and few understand, or know how to complete or check their work. We tutors have to take them by the hand, and sometimes they simply copy what we have done onto their test paper. Now they have a "take home final" which is worth 60% of their final grade! I wonder, is this sort of testing becomming the usual at college level math? Is this what "results based education" has led us to? Or is this simply that teacher's way of covering himself because he cannot communicate understanding of math and he doesn't want to turn in a lot of failing grades?

We all know that climate change is a natural phenomenon which has always happened throughout millions of years. We know the earth went into and came out of at least a dozen ice ages.

As of a week ago I had never heard of "carbon offsets". Now, thanks to Al Gore and his faithful followers of the First Church of Global Warming, here is what I have learned:

1. Carbon offsets are like sacraments. You have to pay for absolution to green companies that plant trees or produce solar energy in order to fly private jets and power your 20-room mansion with 8 bathrooms.

2. The faithful followers are surly and do not have a sense of humor when it comes to their leader's hypocrisy being exposed.

3. Al Gore buys carbon offsets from himself through Generation Investment Management, a company he co-founded and serves as chairman. The company invests in green companies designed to turn a profit which in turn profits Gore. Very nice gig.

I have had CBT and Gestalt therapy for mine and honestly I can say, though I don't live quite a normal life, I am much happier in myself.

As anyone who is taking Honors or AP courses, you think you weighted grade will be you savior. But do colleges look at the weighted or unweighted grade. ( and im not talking about the colleges that don't even count H or AP, makes no sense to do all that work anyway) Cause an 85 in mathH is 91.8~92. Im a junior and time is running short. Thanks.

I think the film is one of the best produced docudramas I've ever seen. Most "re-enactments" are cheesy, like on "Cold Case Files" or some other silly true-crime show. "Touching the Void" recreates a true story elegantly with great actor, sound, and beautiful visuals. What do you think?

My boyfriend has bipolar disorder and adult ADHD. He lives in cycles, and when he is up he gets hypersexual. I think this is great and encourage it! However, he always gets so ill afterwards, very depressed, finds it difficult to turn off, and sometimes gets into trouble, I don't know what kind of trouble. . Can anyone explain hypersexuality to me properly, and tell me if in encouraging my boyfriend to be sexual with me I am in fact making him dangerous, or dangerously ill? Thankyou.
