We all know that climate change is a natural phenomenon which has always happened throughout millions of years. We know the earth went into and came out of at least a dozen ice ages.

As of a week ago I had never heard of "carbon offsets". Now, thanks to Al Gore and his faithful followers of the First Church of Global Warming, here is what I have learned:

1. Carbon offsets are like sacraments. You have to pay for absolution to green companies that plant trees or produce solar energy in order to fly private jets and power your 20-room mansion with 8 bathrooms.

2. The faithful followers are surly and do not have a sense of humor when it comes to their leader's hypocrisy being exposed.

3. Al Gore buys carbon offsets from himself through Generation Investment Management, a company he co-founded and serves as chairman. The company invests in green companies designed to turn a profit which in turn profits Gore. Very nice gig.

Carbon offsets aren't currency, they are HOT AIR. The enviroloons have managed to create a market where you literally have to buy and sell HOT AIR.

Who gave you the right to slap this new tax (which is what it is) on us?

I don't have a problem with people criticizing Gore. It's just that Al Gore (or his character) has absolutely nothing to do with the science of global warming.

Global warming is not natural. The overwhelming body of data show that this is so. Which is why the vast majority of climatologists think we're causing it.

These people are no fans of Al Gore. They get their science from the best scientists in the world.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, Republican, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona

"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."

President George Bush

Why aren´t they balanced people in the US and it all needs to be extreme ?
Climate cycles are over centures and millenium and it doesn´t happen so fast. So just don´t get things out of context. We´re comparing a high man-made increase that happens over 100 years to slower, weaker increase occuring over several centuries... well when it comes to figures, there is no such a think as denying global warming... You´re just telling stories without rational scientific figures.

1) If you never heard of carbon offests before you must have lived on the moon ! In Britain, even the guy sweeping the sidewalk would have heard of !

2) A lot of countries didn´t need Al-Gore to act... again it´s all the american situation.

3) If you only had an idea of a carbon offset you would know it´s like a currency... Even if you buy or give yourself a coin, you have to earn or own it. And he and his company are not the same legal entity... do you even know what a legal entity is ???

ok, so assuming all that is genuine - he's a capitalist. depending upon your avatar, i will assume you're both a Republican or Libertarian so that you ought to help his profiteering. with the exception of, you ought to argue with absolutely everyone who needs that he could pay more suitable in taxes upon his $35 million. As for something of your allegations, i do not pretend to understand Gore's fiances yet in case you had examine the Bloomberg article upon which maximum of your link is depending, you've got stumbled on that Gore allegedly donated all his earnings from "An Inconvenient reality" to the Alliance for climate protection. He has had various different income aspects because 2000, a lot of which will were rather profitable and the $35 million invested with Capricorn is used to fund the shape of environmentally pleasant products. the reality is that the money is all invested in environmental endeavors and he's no longer out procuring mansions or a clean Bentley.

Taking money that u are not in-titled to is a crime. Why not sell Brook land Bridge stocks. It is a swindle. When I buy a gallon of gasoline ,the oil co. gets their money and the state and federal gov get their money and there is nothing else that is legal.
