The grass is green because as the light from the sun difracts through our atmosphere, the remaining light absorbs into or bounces off everything around us. Grass, (specifically chlorophyl) absorbs most of the remaining red light, reflecting blue and yellow wavelengths so that our grass appears "green". If our sun was a different color, so our grass would be, as well. At least in appearance.

My best guess is because of its chlorophyll that absorb light and reflects it back as green colour. Scientist claimed that grasses aren't green in colour, the green that we saw is just a reflected lights. I'm having a hard time believing this but that's what they say...........
