Good for you. You have done what is necessary to change the behaviors. Borderline Personality Disorder can not be "cured" because its in your personality. What makes it disruptive is the behaviors that are part of the personality disorder. Sounds as if you have done alot of work to improve these behaviors....that's what helps BPD people live better lives.

My sis also has borderline personality disorder. I am proud of you, you are not pretending to have some other problem, as she does. She does best when taking good multi-vitamins, especially the b's i.e. B-Complex. Also, she was making progress, inviting better relationships-which had a positive impact on her. Sadly, her boyfriend died last year. She had a relapse.
Family has tried to help, from a distance really, as that is all she will usually tolerate. For a while she moved out of a house, to live on her propery, near a lake-but only shelter was a large shed. Another sister got her on a list for subsidized apartments, and she moved into one. That has been a huge help, though she is always trying to find homes for cats she encouraged and fed. At one point she hadmore than 14. She has 2 now. I am always feeling deep concern for her. She has a hard time reciprocating positive feeling. i.e. if I say:"I love you!"
She laughs in reply. Well, I guess I didn't really answer your question. Though I made a few observations. My sister does best when living in a normal, secure enviroment, when
she takes vitamins--esp. B-complex . She also loves to care for plants-grows them from seed. She almost always does well, when she puts her mind to something. However, not so well, if she obsesses. I hope this helps!

To my knowledge no I don't know of anyone who has been cured, but I believe that with intense therapy and medication and the dedication to understanding the differences in your thought process compared to those without BPD you can be helped. It probably be a long term treatment tho, but can hopefully help you live a more normal life.

I have dissociated identity disorder. DID. I read every book I could get my hands on that was written by Drs FOR Drs, after I realized that my diagnosis was correct. I realized that I had the other personalities (all from other times in my own life) and with 5 years of therapy and working intensley on INTEGRATING all the personalities into myself, the 'moi', I am able to live a very smooth life, now. I had total amnesia while in the other personalities, so, I had it very rough for a while.
