Why is the word 'got' so commonly added to the verb 'to have' when talking about possession? It serves no purpose and sounds mediocre.

Examples:

I have (got) two cats.
I've (got) tickets for the Cup final.
Have you got / Do you have any money?

until they have the experience, maturity and knowledge to choose one or none for themselves? At the very least I would counsel that they be exposed to as many religions/faiths as possible.

Like the Jesuits say, "give me the boy and I will give you the man". Is it fair to stamp your idea of the 'correct' religion on a young mind that has no defense or idea of alternatives?

As an example, many christians who claim they were once atheists but 'saw the light' and became christians (CS Lewis springs to mind) turn out, on closer examination, to have been raised in a christian family in the first place. In that context, it is not so much 'seeing the light' as it is falling back on previous patterns that were established when the mind was still young and impressionable.

“Estefu nian kara Veera Argwene…”

The cool voice of Vono echoed throughout the temple, and Maldin snapped out of his reverie. It was starting to get dark, but the people gathered inside the temple did not even notice this. All eyes were on the lone figure lying on the cold altar.

“…mie zwellsal akinya saumied…”

He lifted his gaze and took one last look at the pale face of the woman on the cold stone. The last rays of light crept over her face, to the beautiful face, the long dark hair. His chest tightened as he realized, for the first time since her death yesterday, that he would never see her again. That despite all, she’s leaving them, him behind.

“…dreke nian shrisa kuri…”

Karakus, priest of fire, stepped forward and raised his arms in silent prayer. At once, white flames erupted from the sides of the altar. The Fire of Gewandel, Goddess of Death.

“…estefu nian kara…Veera Argwene…”

He watched in silent agony as the white flames slowly engulfed her body. He closed his eyes, not wanting to see. When he opened them, her body was gone and the flames are starting to disappear. It’s over. She’s gone. Estefu nian kara, Veera Argwene…Farewell to thee Lady Argwene, priestess of the waters in Nimaea, and the only woman he’d ever loved.

I need your help and tell me what you think…

I am in a situation where I need to choose between either, my mother, or my husband, and I am being torn in between.
I live over sees and I came to visit my family in the US. I’ve been here for 2 weeks already and my husband wants me to come back right away. Mother and aunt are upset because they think I should spend more time with them, we are talking 2-3 months more.

They both need me in their own ways, family going through financial depression and they need me for emotional support, and husband needs me back because he is lonely and we are newly wedded, he thinks that we shouldn’t spend more than 3 weeks apart in our first year of our marriage. So I am torn, and someone will get mad at me if I choose to stay with the other. What you think should I do?

If you are going to tell me do what your heart tell you to do, I want to be with them both but I don’t want to create problems. What should I do in this situation?

I grew up with 2 males, and I was always considered their sister or to out-siders a tom boy. This was fine with me. In high school I ended up going to a different school to them, and ended up in the wrong crowd. My parents then moved us 5 hours away to get me out of the trouble I was in. This meant leaving my best mates behind. I stayed in touch with one of them, but the other guy never replied or showed interest in staying in touch. This hurt me really badly - and I often thought about him. It hs been 5 years since I saw him or even spoke to him last. When last week I was skimming through friends profiles on myspace, and found that he had one..

Now my question to u...
Should I contact him?
Im shy, and have no idea what to say as I know we've both changed ALOT!

1) WASHINGTON — An internal Justice Department report accuses the FBI of underreporting its use of the Patriot Act to force telecommunications and financial firms to turn over customer information in suspected terrorism cases, according to officials familiar with its findings.

Shoddy bookkeeping and records management led to the problems, said one government official familiar with the report. The official said FBI agents appeared to be overwhelmed by the volume of demands for information over a two-year period.

"They lost track," said the official who like others interviewed late Thursday spoke on condition of anonymity because the report had not been released.

The errors are outlined by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine in an audit to be released on Friday. The audit requirement was added to the Patriot Act by Congress over the objections of the Bush administration.
