CORFU=KERKYRA
Been many times.my favorite island in Greece
never seen that many olive trees mixed with cypress trees,not even on island of lesbos.andgreen,green,green.
lots of lakes and rivers.beautiful beaches.
i always stay in town of Corfu at Bella Venezia hotel.great place,BB only.everything is within walking distance from there:shops(open until very late at night),night life(wow),restaurants(great food-have to taste pastitsada and bordeto),museums,port( have to go by boat to Vidos island-nice beach, only 0,5Euro each way).
best way is to rent a small car and each day to go somewhere else.very cheap rent.you can see the most of the island in 4days by car.
places to see:Messonghi,Sidari,Moraitika,Paleokastritsa( a must - boat trip round sea caves 6Euro),Benitses,Acharavi,
Gouvia,Dassia,Achillion(magnificent Palace built for Elizabeth known as Sissy,Empress of Austria - also birthplace Prince Phillip.entrance is quite expensive 7Euro)Kavos,Agios Georgios,Pelekas,Roda,
Nissaki,Barbati,Agios Gordios and my favorite Bukari(best fish tavernas,quite cheap).
you can also go by boat to Albania(very nice day trip to Ay.Saranta(about 30Euro)
and do not forget spray against mosquitoes!have them everywhere!!!
Friendly people,good food,great music,beautiful nature

yes i have been to corfu twice and stayed in Dassia both times. i thought it was a beautiful Island, with obviously Kavos being the party town if you want that sort of thing, but many other quieter places to stay ( a lot more so than a lot of the other Greek Islands these days.

The island tour we took was one of the best I have ever been on, and the hotel we stayed at was literally the best I have ever stayed at (the Dassia Chandris)

Hope you enjoy yourself!

It is very nice, the town is very picturesque and the beaches are beautiful, and it is a very green island with a lot of cultural tradition. But I hacen't been there in the summer, I've heard it is very crowded.
