I am pregnant and my daughter is 7. Their dad is not around. So now there is a skiing night with her school and I can't go on the hill pregnant (and I can't really ski anyway, lol). Each child is supposed to have a parent on the hill. My daughters friend comes from a family with a mom and dad and he offered (without my asking) to watch my daughter on the hill. I was so happy. My daughter is so excited to go skiing. I will watch from the lodge and I am so glad she gets to go as she has a supervisor on the hill. Since valentines is coming up, I had my daughter make a thank-you one to him... but I would like to scrap that and do something tonight... not over the top... like maybe a gift certificate from Tim Hortons (drive though coffe shop in town)... but that seems a little over the top too... how do I show my appreciation without making too big a deal about it (I dont' like big displays of emotion... they embarras me).
