The half angula formula says:
cos(A/2) = ± √( [1 + cos(A)]/2 )

cos(pi/10) = (1/4)√(10 + 2√5)

cos(pi/5) = (√5+1)/4

Use the half angle formula (and any other trigonometric identities you would like to use) to derive cos(pi/5) from cos(pi/10) using the above values.

I have been dating this guy for over 2 years. He proposed over a year ago and I haven't gotten a ring yet. We have talked about getting married and told our friends. We cant get married until we are both through with grad. school and money can be tight sometimes. We have both told our own friends but he hasnt told his parents yet or mine. They assume and talk about it but my question is why he wouldn't say anything to his own family that he has went ahead and asked me or have bought me a ring yet? He has shown me the ring he wants to buy online. What am I supposed to think? I know its not about a ring but Im still a girl. The family thing really bothers me. I just got my 5 yr restraining order a week ago against my sister-n-law. The same day it was granted she violated 3 times. By the next day it was 4 times. I do not have proof. How do you get past hating people who abused you early in life? Yes, we've prayed but this is VERY difficult for my friend to get over. I think he's trying to understand why this occured early in his life. He can't understand why the emotional and physical abuse happened in the first place.
It's sad to watch him struggle with resolving this issue day in and day out. How would you advise him if he were your friend? I'm at my wits end trying to help. I can't explain, I wasn't there but the sadness in him makes me sad. I am empathetic.

I am a master carpenter. I have a table saw, now I bought a nice router 185.00 with my Christmas & birthday cash. But I feel guilty cause I really don't have to have it. it would be something I can make cool things with. also I don't know how often I'll use it realistically.
takes time and $ for wood etc. I thought of saving the $ to maybe put it towards a new TV or something more sensible. I couldn't pass up the deal because it has a $30.00 rebate which makes it a good deal. Ever since I quit drinking 12 years ago, decisions seem a lot harder. I don't know why.
