Why is it that when American people go to other countries and when capturing images of the culture there, they try to capture images as close to American standards?
For instance, I am from Trinidad, and I often notice articles about Trinidad carnival with images captured of very light, white or very fair skin east indian women very slim and perfect. Thing is; our culture is not like that, we often clad ourselves in scandalous clothes, with our fat bellies hanging out, and ash on our a.s.s and knees and celebrate this in great fashion. It is not an image thing for Trinidadians, but America seems to capture images that are very false and untrue. I have a friend that went over the very first time and came back and told be he didnt know there was so much diversity there. Why is that? What about all the tar black people, the vagrants that participate in the carnivals? It isn't a modeling contest.
This bugs me and I know why.
