I've found that Continental or Northwest have the cheapest flights, but it depends on where in the US that you're flying!! West coast, you may find some really cheap flights on Singapore Air, Korean Air or Asiana. East coast is more expensive...like A LOT more!! If you can find a cheap flight to a west coast city, that would be your best bet!

Singapore Airlines has some the cheapest prices and by far the best service of any airline that flies direct to South Korea. Even if you have to pay a little more, the standard TV in the seats and free champaigne in Economy class make it worth it. You have to get to LA or San Fran. first, but there are always cheap flights there. Try Southwest to LA.
