Despite other answers, it is NOT great money, but it is a very noble job to do. People in those classes are very professional, and will not do anything to make you uncomfortable. If you are wary of your appearance, don't be. I've had many models from 90lbs to 300. They can use anyone, and would be very appreciative. Just be able to hold still for a long time.

If you feel comfortable with your body you actually are doing a great service for the Art Students.
Could you imagine Michelangelo trying to carve David without the prototype?
The students of art are not going to be looking at you as if you were walking down the street naked, they will be studying the musculature and all the aspects that make this art form possible with a live guest.

A very minor drawback I see is that it could be tough on you physically. Trying to hold still for poses is a lot tougher than people think. Particularly ones that require you to twist your body around or lift your arms or legs. And some of those studios can be freezing during the winter months. But if you can deal with that part, you can make good money for not really doing anything.

As long as you don't mind the possibility that a nude work of art featuring you and made by ameteurs may end up in someone's parlor someday...go for it!!!

If it's a legitimate art class and you're OK with being naked in front of others, go for it. I've done it at my own college for their art department and it's no big deal...even though I knew two of the guys in the class.

I am an artist myself, and what would we do without models ? (I paint males and females).
Unlike in pornography, the poses that are asked are very modest and you don't mind people drawing you, as long as it is organised in an academy for example.
After a few times you would get used to it and you would take poses by yourself, as the models in my academy do. So don't be shy, it will work without any harm for you or for your modesty.

Sure! It's not like your doing porn, lol. You are assisting artists in learning their craft and you make some easy money. I knew a girl who did that back in college, and she had no problems with it.
