My boyfriend and I share the 24th of every month as an anniversary (in February it will be a year). However, this year will be our first Valentine's Day together and it makes me a little nervous because Valentine's Day is mine and my ex's former anniversary (my ex and I broke up in November of '05 after a 4 year relationship. A few months later he came out of the closet admitting he was gay). What can my boyfriend and I do to make a day I absolutely despise into what it's supposed to be?

When is it proper to begin a sentence with "How come?" For example, can you say "How come schools are closed today?" instead of "Why are schools closed today?" Or is it not okay at all?

Last week some friends of mine threw a party for their new apartment, but the neighbors didn't agree to let us play loud music. We tried and they said they'd call the cops.

So we turned the volume down, but since we were about 30 people, we could barely hear it.

Going somewhere else (i.e. in a club or sth) wasn't an option as the apartment was the reason we threw the party.

If anyone has some good ideas of a party without loud music, I'd really appreciate if you share them.

HELP!!! I have a six month old Weimaraner who is jumping over our fence. We only have a 4 ft. chain linked fence and we split the backyard so that he could have the whole back area... he has learned how to jump out of both areas so right now we are keeping him in the house until we can find an alternate solution. We do not want to go with shock collar if possible... does anyone have any solutions that would help???

I was sitting at a bus stop and this lady comes up and starts sharing her life story like a creepy Forest Gump. She was talking about how she dumped gas on her husband and tried to light him on fire but the lighter didn't work. This happened some six years ago. I always ate over noon with this girl who was from the same rural area as me (we went to school in the bigger city). Her friend joined us regularly and one day she said she had feelings for me. Now of course I know what she meant, but back then I didn't. I was just seventeen-eighteen years old back then. So I told her I didn't understood and all that, and a little later she said those feelings were gone because she said she heard something about me (people thought i was racist back then, but they were wrong, I am a socialist and hate racists, but that's beside the point) but the only mutual friend we had was that girl we ate with. A little later I sent her friend an email stating I was looking for her (the one that had feelings for me) and I got a reply from her that she was felt good about me not having forgotten her, and she thought I'd never look for her that way and thought I'd forgot her. What would you've done when you had the chance ?
