Jalousie is a blind or shutter having adjustable horizontal slats for regulating the passage of air and light. 'Jalousie' is French for 'jealousy', which is where the word comes from. But why is it called this?

Most what adam's write lacks plot and theme. Almost no element of strugle (no clear protagonist/anatagonist) exept in few semi isloated sketches. Characters are paper thin and cartoonish, narration passes through lots of sudden illogical twists. sentences are long , some times too long and often a same word is repeated three or four times in one sentence.Yet the stories are wonderfull to read , very funny and quite scuessfull as far as sales are concerned?

It seems odd to me how many people pass each other by on the streets... while shopping... in elevators... and countless other situations... and while they make eye contact, in 99% of the cases never even say hello. Why is this? What is everyone so afraid of? Is it instinctual that we are always on guard and fearful of strangers? Did our parents "poison" our adult minds by teaching us as children to not talk to those we don't know? Seems like such a shame that people are not generally friendlier. Why do you think this is?? Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I am almost 38, have had 4 children, I am 5ft 6 and have big bones that are slender(If that makes sence) What do you think my ideal weight should be. I know if you ask 100 questions, you are going to get 100 different answers. But just curious what you think it should be, after what I have discribed above. Do not forget I am not a teenager anymore, as I have been there and done that.

I met this man, he is very intelligent and always has broad shoulders for me to lean on when i need it. He is in the process of getting divorced, it has nothing to do with me, i met him after the process of divorce began. I see him regularly, at least once a day. Nothing happened as yet, becuase i cant see myself getting seriously involved with this man. My question: Should i just grab the oppurtunity to be happy or live with doubts if i let this slip away?

I've read that the government advice (UK) is that a baby should be in the parent's room for the first 6 months.
Why is this advised? Is it to do with preventing cot death?
And how essential is it follow this advice? My husband and I have a very small room with not much room for a crib in there, whereas we have a proper nursery for the baby. Should I have my baby in my room for the first 6 months?
