Seems if you're American everyone expects you to talk the same as all other Americans. If you're a voice actor you can get away and they accept you , but if you're just an American with an accent cause your parents are from another cuntry and you grew up with their language, then you are seeing as odd.
Also, Americans seem to be afraid of putting on unusual accents...why? Is it just social pressure? By this i mean, you never see a person in a company put on a fake "APu" voice ( Apu from the simpsons). You can make it not funny and be serious with it, so what's wrong with that.
