A woman who is not in a relationship by a certain age is not a spinster -- she is single. Most probably by choice.

However, if she is wanting a relationship, and hasn't found one yet, usually it's because there are other things going on -- low self-esteem, or the opposite, expectations set too high. If she wants to be in a relationship she should join activities which she enjoys to find others who are like-minded and make friends.

No matter what the reason I don't think it's because a woman is "undesirable."

If a 40-45 year old man isn't married, and has never been married -- what would you call him? (Ironically, many males seeing that question would say something like "lucky," or is that just a stereotypical assumption?)

The woman herself, if she wants to be attractive or provocative, she can, but if she so chooses to be unattractive and a spinster why would the man want her anyway?
She probably is a spinster by choice. Women that look hot want to look hot and are looking to be with a man. But those that want to be undesirable are using that as their defense mechanism to ward off the evil spirits of a man. Get it? Oh men at forty are not called spinsters no, but they are called habitual bachelors, and lonely and then when they get older they are known as dirty old men,( and they have to pay for it) and then when they get real old to where they couldnt get lucky with a thousand dollars taped to their foreheads are called grumpy old men.

In my opinion, the most important factor that leads to a woman being seen as "undesirable" is her own lack of self-esteem. If *she* sees herself as an object to be admired (by her standards), she will undoubtedly show more confidence in her words, actions, and appearance. The mental strength of a person definitely plays a huge role in what others think of her.

A woman who thinks she is equal or better than a man.

These type of women always feel they have been wronged by a man and always trying to prove that she is better. These women never realize that there are certain things women are better than men and certain things men are better.

It seems that there is a man for just about every woman. One trait that most men can't get over is mean spirited women. You know the type, nothing but complaints.

Pessimistic, Unconfident, Unmotivated, Bitter, Angry, Insecure
I hope you are not asking this question because you think you are. You are not! I don't know you but trust me you are a beautiful person and are NOT a spinster!

the attitude. I've heard of really pretty spinsters but no one wants to aproach them because they are total bit*hes.

Lots of people, both men and women, can be undesirable.

Spinsterhood is not a reality these days.

The single life style can be preferable to either gender.
