i already paid my college tuition and books equalling about 600 dollars. i didn't think id get aid and i got a 2,025 dollars pell grant. How do they dispurse it . do you get a check or do they give it too the school. and do you have to put it on your taxes

Selective Service to Test Draft Machinery

WASHINGTON (Dec. 22) - The Selective Service System is making plans to test its draft machinery in case Congress and President Bush need it, even though the White House says it doesn't want to bring back the draft.

The agency is planning a comprehensive test - not run since 1998 - of its military draft systems, a Selective Service official said. The test itself would not likely occur until 2009.

Scott Campbell, the service's director for operations and chief information officer, cautioned that the "readiness exercise" does not mean the agency is gearing up to resume the draft.

"We're kind of like a fire extinguisher. We sit on a shelf," Campbell told The Associated Press. "Unless the president and Congress get together and say, 'Turn the machine on' ... we're still on the shelf."

Veterans Affairs Secretary Jim Nicholson prompted speculation about the draft Thursday when he told reporters in New York that "society would benefit" if the U.S. were to bring back the draft. Later he issued a statement saying he does not support reinstituting a draft.

The administration has for years forcefully opposed bringing back the draft, and the White House said Thursday that policy has not changed and no proposal to reinstate the draft is being considered.

The "readiness exercise" would test the system that randomly chooses draftees by birth date and its network of appeal boards that decide how to deal with conscientious objectors and others who want to delay reporting for duty, Campbell said.

I had a serious girlfriend, she had 3 small tatoos (2 on her back and one on her ankle) and a piercing on her tongue, I didnt worry too much about it because all those "weido add-ons" were on places my family couldnt see them, and then she told me she was going to get a piercing just below her lower lip...so I dumped her and I never told her why, I didnt think it was my place to tell her what she could or couldn't pierce, but also becuase I thought that would be so embarrassing in front of my family and friends, in my opinion that type of piercing would make her look both tarty and weirdo at the same time...seriously, how can I marry a woman like that? what example would that set for our future kids? but I was wondering, in your opinion, am shallow or did I do the right thing?

I lived in New Orleans for 8 years prior to Katrina. I and everyone who lived there knew the dangers of having a hurricane enter the lake or what might happen in the event of torrential rains. No one in there right mind believed the levee's would hold or that the pumps would get the water out fast enough. Now with all this knowledge before hand why is the Federal Goverment the scapegoat? What about the Mayor and the Governor? I'm not looking for flaming rants, I would like to fully understand why the Feds have to pay?

i am ttc. i had sex during my ovulation period 9,10,13,15,20,21 since 4dpo i have been having dull achey like cramps in my lower abdomin and the past two days it was in my hips and legs and after sex i cramp for a cupple of hours as well. I have sore nipples that hurt to the touch and sometimes just on there own. i started feeling tired last night about 8:30 and slept for an hour and the same thing happened to me tonight i just couldnt keep my eyes open and that normal doesnt happen to me till about 11 at night. today i would be 9 dpo. i aslo got 9 hours of sleep thats why it was a little werrid to me. i was just wondering if anyone has ever had this and been pregnant? and how soon does the tiredness kick in. my next period is December 30th. and everyone says its pre menstral but i normally dont get tired till i get my full blown period.
during my ovulation period the 13th my most furtile time i spoted pink after sex. that has never happened to me before and i have been ttc.for 5mon

I'm a 21 an Armenian, Christian (if you know what an Armenian is). My bf is also 21 Mexian, Catholic. We have been together since November 2005. We get along great and we are very serious and plannin on gettin married within 2-3 yrs. I need to first get my Bachelors first and get a good job. He is currently working. In February 2006 i told my parents I liked him and they both flipped out, yelled at me, my mom said, "i hate you" and spit at me b/c they were ashamed that I was w/ a mexican guy and said he is a gang member b/c he is mexican, bald and wears earrings. Ever since, then my relationship has been a secret. Me n my bf still see eachother and get along great. My parents still bring him up and call me stupid, idiot and what a low class person I am for being w/ a mexican guy. They threated to kick me out and they r serious about that. my parents r so racist. i can't talk back 2 them b/c if i do they will hit me & what i say doesnt matter b/c i am wrong.

I know the name of the song is Monster, or believe it is anyways. I have been with my man for 3 years and we have a baby together. we have been living apart for a year now but we are still together we never seperated from the relationship when we moved apart there was some circumstances on that, and I do hope to go back to him as soon as we can. I love this guy with my all. I've been 101% faithful to him, I do anything and everything for him when he needs it. I do not have guy friends or talk or look at guys because to me that is cheating as well. (I am very traditional in that sense). But the problem is he always gets mad at me on the phone if I say something wrong, and he told me he doesnt love me anymore because I smoked a couple times and we fought alot.he says it wants to love me again and he cares about me. And like he sends me jewlery and that, but he is never really there for me. He doesnt understand me and the love I need from him. He just keeps telling me to wait and he is trying, But he ignores me alot of the time. Is it worth the wait?
