My pediatrician always told me that if I felt cold, then chances are the baby did too, or if I felt hot, the baby was probably hot as well. In other words, bundle baby up for cold days, long pants, shirt with long sleeves, warm booties or socks, jacket, and definitely a hat since most of the bodie's heat is released through the scalp. Then when baby is sufficiently dressed, wrap him or her in a warm blanket. If the baby is newborn, be sure to cover the face.
