Last week I was driving, just minding my own business and KABOOM!!! my passenger side air bag deployed. There was no accident, I didn't even hit a pot hole. Lucky me! So the insurance won't pay for it and Pontiac won't pay for it, lucky me.
I understand that the car still runs because it was the passenger bag and not the driver side bag, is this true? I just purchased a new windshield as it was shattered. I don't think I can afford a new dashboard and as for the air bag, Midas said the car will still pass inspection if I were to just cut it out and make the best of the cover and; since it is in the thousands of dollars to replace the air bag, I guess I'll just cut it.
All that to say this, how can I safely disable the driver side air bag or the entire system for that matter? Someone told me to pull the fuse. Is this safe? If it is safe, should I disconnect the battery? "They" also said that when I pull it could spark, maybe deploy the airbag. HELP!! PLEASE!!!
