If the TV is to be switched off, can the power plug switch be directly off...?or is it necessary that you switch off that atleast with the remote and then cut off the plug switch...?

im 20 years old, i weigh about 340 and i am 5'11". i have been trying for the past couple years with diet after diet and even tried weight loss pills. i am very active for my size and i dont really eat as much as people think based on steretypes. ive just always gained weight it seems. i am looking to gastric bypass for the change i desire and want to know if i would be an acceptable candidate. i also want to know if it would be covered by my health insurance. any answers are appreciated.

My RAM at the moment is 224MB and i have 2 Ram cards(?) from my old PC (they are about an inch high and 4 inches long).
Can i put one of them into my new computer to up the RAM without having to do anything else or do i need software?
I was told they may not be compatible with my new PC?
I'm ok with computers but i'm not sure about this... So any help would be appreciated.
