We say to people "Peace be with you", you say "Assalamu alaikum"

We say to people "God willing", you say "Insha'Allah"

We say to people "Glory to God (in the highest)", you say "Subhan'Allah"

We say to people "Praise God", you say "Alhamdulillah"

etc......

Why not just say it in English instead of mixing it all up?
What makes saying the *same thing* in Arabic so special? Is that what the Koran tells you to do, or is it just tradition?

I'm currently living in Seattle, Washington, after having pranced around Europe for a while. (I'm from Mnachester, England)
I'm getting my driving permit soon but for the moment I have a bike and the bus system.

I'm just wanting to know if any of you folks have ideas on what to do here? I like the place alot ... but I'm 20 so they won't let me in bars ... which was what I spent much time doing in Europe!

As I Understand it Texas Fought for and WON there Independence from Mexico. YET we still have Mexicans claiming Texas belongs to them. Under this Logic. Wouldn't Mexico Still belong to Spain then? And the USA would Still belong to England. So why is it that Mexico still Claims to Own Texas, Arizona and California?

I am 1/4 Cherokee but mygrandmom hid out in the north georgia/tenn hills and avoided the Trail of Tears...so there was no official record of my grandmom (squaw) except her marriage certificate/bible.
.....I have friends that get $$ thrown at them because they had a "Hispanic" grandparent.. with a "B"ave they can get GRANT $$ as a "Hispanic scholar". Do they have to have official records or live on a reservation???
..I could sure use tuition help as a minority rather than a white kid who graduated with a 4.0 ave and some credits from dual credit courses and "5"s on AP tests..My two brothers also scape by in college.. it doesnt seem fair!

I have a '92 Cadillac DeVille, with a 4.9 ltr V8. My car has recently started idling very high, from the moment I turn it over. When I start it, it revs really loudly too. The worst part is that while i'm driving, it tends to accelerate all on it's own, and my gas mileage is horrible!!

Any ideas on what's causing this? or what I can do?

Me and my husband are struggling with my sons sleeping habits. My husband works during the day and enjoys coming home and allowing our son to sleep with us. I on the other hand, I have to deal with those reprocostions. I have to rock our son to sleep for every nap and to put him to bed. He will sleep in his crib for about 3-4 hours and then wakes up crying. My husband then will get up and put him in our bed. My husband snores and is a bed hog, my son is just like his father. It's so bad I've even threatened to sleep on the floor in my sons nursry! I have heard great things about the ferber method but my husband cant stand hearing my son cry. I'm at a loss with what to do. please help!

My mom and dad seperated over a year ago, and are now divorced. My dad cheated on my mom. When my mom confronted him, my sister and I were with her, and my dad's girlfriend attacked my sister. He and his girlfriend are expecting a baby together. My dad called my sister on his way home from work yesterday, and she asked him why he never calls her any other time than when he is on her way home from work. He said that his girlfriend doesn't let him call either my sister or myself because we will not come to her house to see him. My birthday was on a weekend, and I did not get a call until Monday because he was with her all weekend. We live in different towns, and he was even in my town on my birthday. Should I just let go or keep trying? My head tells me to let go, but my heart tells me to keep trying.
