I live just east of Pittsburgh, and I'm looking for somewhere to travel semi-close to home next summer for a weekend trip. I'll be traveling with my fiance, and we don't want to spend too much money. He's a history buff, but I prefer "fun." He'd like to go to Washington D.C. again, but I don't know if I really want to go there again.

The furthest south would probably be North/South Carolina.

Thank you!

I am in charge of setting up my brother's bachelor party and we've all decided on going to Lake Tahoe. The problem is, I know nothing about the area except that there is skiing and gambling. Where is the best area for us to stay in to enjoy the skiing and nightlife?
Thanks for helping.

I don't care what state it's in, but preferably less than 3,000 people? I'm really looking for one of those everybody-knows-each-other kind of town like from the movies. I know it's kind of lame, but is there even a town like this still out there? If so please let me know. THanks sooo much!

I am not a student, I am moving for work. I am from Nashville, and we have an area right outside Vanderbilt University, but it is primarily young professionals, not students, and is within a short drive of downtown Nashville. An area like this would be ideal, any ideas??

To Hawaii and finding work in the IT field shortly after arrival without any offers actually being made beforehand? I am thinking of selling all my junk here and taking the plunge. Anyone else ever just sold everything and moved? BTW, I am single and unattached. How much of a cushion would I need to survive?

Myself, husband and 2 children ages 3 and 2 will be driving from Seattle to St Louis in January. We've never driven across country before and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions about the drive.
We've got dvd players for the kids and emergency car kit and firt aid kit, we're with AAA.
Is there anything else that we should be thinking about? how do we find out the best route? we don't want to get stuck anywhere with mountains being closed due to snow.
we have 6 days to get there.
thanks in advance
