To Hawaii and finding work in the IT field shortly after arrival without any offers actually being made beforehand? I am thinking of selling all my junk here and taking the plunge. Anyone else ever just sold everything and moved? BTW, I am single and unattached. How much of a cushion would I need to survive?

I have some friends who just moved out there about a week and a half ago. A couple my age and their daughter who is grown. So far they are stuck in a hostel with no house rented or anything else, to include jobs for the guy and the daughter.

Mom is medically unable to get or hold a job. They have tried to get me to come out and rent a house with them to help cut down on expenses but I am leery of that getting totally out of hand.

On the other hand, I still haven't been able to find work where I am, the bills still keep coming in and I am worrying myself sick that I will be homeless in a few months with nowhere to go and no money to get there on if I had a place to go to. I wonder if I should start trying to sell all my stuff now before it gets too late to do anything with my crap while being evicted.

Do you have any friends in Hawaii? It would help. If you are not afraid of challenges, then go for it. Until you get to know your way around for shopping, renting, etc, the cost of living is relatively high. Be prepared financially to withstand 3-4 months before finding employment. It also depends upon which of the Islands to which you want to move. "A turtle only makes progress when he sticks his neck out" - good luck to you, whatever you decide.
