I'd rather go to Disney even though I've been there like, 6 times. New York is more of a day trip for me. I've been to the city thousands of times. What is your opinion and why?

Ok, my friends and I are planning a trip to Times Square, New York, to see the ball drop this year. It will take us four hours to drive and the price of gas. Or we can fly and take us and hour and $800. I know that flying would be quicker, but money wise we are not sure. Plus, we will have to get a hotel room. But my question is if we drive how much gas would be needed for a 20 gallon tank to get us all the way to New York? Say he drives 65 miles an hour the whole way, which he will probably either go slower or faster but that is the average. How much gas would be needed then. Sorry I am not a math person. Anyone who has been to NY, give me some ideas on the Hotel, Gas prices, I know they will rise or fall, the cost of things, Ect. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Also we are planning to leave on the 28th of Dec. and Return the 2nd of Jan. Anyone's answers are welcome. Thanks soo much to anyone who answers. Also, we live near D.C. if that helps anyone out. Thanks.

Can you please list some rainy/cloudy places in America? Preferablely near a forest and or near a river/the ocean. Not the Olympic Peninsula please.
Thanks!

What would you recommend we go and do. We are prepared to travel and want to mix culture with fun. Can anyone suggest any driving routes or anything else that you would consider to be a must do? many thanks for any suggestions

Those silly roadside (tourist trap) statues like the one of Paul Bunyan. Have you visited any? Where and what was it? Will you link a pic? Many of them are what is called "Muffler Men" but I'm interested in any you may have seen.

I'll let this go to you all to vote...
Winner is the one with the tackiest picture OR the funniest story which goes along with the trip to the statue.

Here's one of my favorites, because I've eaten there. It used to be a Drive-Inn restaraunt where they would bring your food on a tray to your car and hang it on your window. I THINK it is all eat in now. Food was very good!

We have been to Maui before but never Molokai... we aren't really tour people; we like to explore on our own... is the ferry landing adjoined to a town? or within walking distance of a beach good for snorkeling?

Could we rent bicycles at the landing? or a car if we have to?

Anyone who knows I really appreciate this.

I recently passed through Georgia on I-77, and it STINKS!

Why does it smell so bad? I noticed it a month ago on my way to Florida, and then again a few days ago on my way back home. It's aweful.

I am currently living in Louisiana and I have about 9 months left of school. I plan on moving out of state once I graduate. I would like to live in a beach town/city either big or small, but if it is small, i need to be within reasonable driving distance to a big city to work out of. The list of states I have been looking at are Florida, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful?

I currently live outside of Chicago. Our weather is horrible too hot and humid in the summer and to cold and dreary in the winter. Land also cost too much and there are too many people. I want to get away from the craziness for a while.
This is what I'm looking for ideally:
*mild climate (I can handle some snow in winter)
*somewhere where I can buy 5 or more acres for a good price (0-$10,000.00 an acre)
*within 45 minutes of a major city
*colleges
*beauty with trees and mountains
*parks/trails
*stuff to do nearby
Where has what?
