I am a laid back person. I make about 500 a week here in connecticut and money is tight. I have looked into jobs in my profesion(electrical) and I can make the same amount of money there as I do here. I also am under the understanding that the cost of living is a lot less in Florida. I guess I am just looking for some input from those who live there or have lived there. Thanks

For anyone who knows, is there such a city in N. Carolina that has good schools, down to earth people-not snobs or stuck ups, (but not people who get in your business all the time either), middle-aged -(40's), good job market, safe, decent and just plain normal people with stuff to do?

I'm looking to move to or as near to the beach as I can. I do engineering work but find that most of the jobs are centered in large cities. I don't want to live in a big city but would like to be close enough to visit whenever I want. Warm weather all year around is a plus. Cost of living is also a consideration. Any suggestions?

We've rented a cabin at Big Bear (about 100yrds from the lake) for two weeks in June/July. My husband and I will be taking his three kids ages 15, 12 and 9. How safe will it be to let his kids wonder around the immediate area and on the lake shore (NOT in the lake) alone for short periods of time?
