Just wondering some of the sights and stuff that I should see, and good places to go to and I tried looking on the net but I dont suppose anyone would know how much it would cost roughly to fly from Sydney Australia to LA?

In addition to the amusement parks etc. already mentioned, most people that come to LA want to see Hollywood. As silly as it seems, it really is a lot of fun to get on one of those tourist buses and get a tour of where famous people live. Going to the big cemetery near Hollywood is also cool (you'll "meet" a lot of celebrities there!)
If you can, drive down to San Diego and hit the world famous San Diego zoo and also hang out an afternoon in Old Town where you'll be sure to find the best margaritas ever.
I flew from LA to Sydney for business several years ago. I would imagine you'll pay upwards of a thousand dollars for a RT ticket now.

Going to the Los Angeles area... I recommend:
Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm (amusement parks)
There's plenty of beaches... but you've probably seen sand and water already.
There's an endless variety of stuff to see and do in and around LA....

tell the guy on the examine in counter about the tree and note in case you could replace rooms. and the emergency button is in case you get stuck in elevator or fireplace. meant to allow bartender deal with your beverages.
