I'm looking to move to or as near to the beach as I can. I do engineering work but find that most of the jobs are centered in large cities. I don't want to live in a big city but would like to be close enough to visit whenever I want. Warm weather all year around is a plus. Cost of living is also a consideration. Any suggestions?

Pacific Beach in San Diego is the best beach town in my opinion. Everyone is young, 20-30. It's very laid back. Everyone is in flip flops and boardshorts most of the year. The women are gorgeous and the people are really chill and friendly. There is great nightlife, tons of bars and clubs and lots of restuarants and cafes. the weather is pretty much perfect in San Diego too, warm and mild pretty much the whole year. Mission Beach right next to PB is also a great beach town, very small and compact on a strand of sand about a 1/4 mile wide.

San Diego is a big city though, but I feel it has a small town atmosphere. I'm originally from the SF Bay Area and I like SD b/c it's still a big city but with a small town feel unlike the Bay Area which is so huge and populated. It's not very congested or crowded here, but that of course is in comparison to the Bay Area. Some of the northern suburbs of San Diego are nice and have that old time SoCal beach town feel. It's less crowded up there too and more rural. Check out Solana Beach and Encinitias, very chill and laid back beach towns. Housing and gas are expensive here, but everything else is probably the same. And it's much cheaper than SF or LA. SD is such an amzing city with great small beach communities. I know you said you didn't want a city and cost of living is a consideration, but I would check out places in San Diego just in case it's worth it to you. Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, OCean Beach, Encinitas, and Solana Beach are great beach towns. They have more information on them on Wikipedia.org or you can just do an internet search too.

You could consider Charleston,SC. A metro area of around 400,000 but many areas have small feel. If you want to be on the beach be prepared to pay for it (1 - 2.5 mill.) But you can live within 20-30 min. for reasonable prices. Alot of possibilities in the enginneering field. Myrtle Beach is also good but very touristy and somewhat dead in the winter.

i've never been there yet but i hear amazing things about San Diego, CA. I have some friends that live there. I'm planning on visiting over there in a few months. Great weather, nice beaches and stuff. I dont know anything about small towns around there but you can look into something in that area. I live in Chicago though and its beautiful but we all know how cold Chicago can get.

one million. Bar Harbor, ME. i understand, that's on the east coast, yet i've got long gone there a pair of situations, and it sounds what you're searching for, i do no longer understand some beachfront domicile, yet common, i think of it relatively is a robust place! you need to truly look into it! 2. in my opinion, i think of there's a huge difference interior the factors, yet i've got by no ability left the chilly, east coast. 3. i think of the west coast is greater exciting. And with the hurricanes that we've had. i'd say it relatively is possibly greater secure while it includes natrul-failures! desire i can help!

I love visiting Port Aransas or Rockport. They are smaller towns near the city of Corpus Christi on the coast of TX. They are very close to the beach.
