I've been to NYC, but not London. Going by what I've read about both cities, however, as well as my personal NYC experience, I'd say that I'd feel much safer in NYC. Even in Harlem, all I did was mind my own business, not take pictures, and not make a spectacle of myself and I was fine.
While NYC's overall crime, including murder and rape, rates are higher, the crime is predominantly concentrated in WaHI, South Bronx, and parts of south and east Brooklyn. Even in these locales, the rate continues to gradually decline. For the most part, all five boroughs are safe.
London has a lower crime rate, but crime is interspersed throughout the entire city (minus Downtown,) giving the city more of an unsafe feel. Add to this the fact that its city limits is geographically much smaller than NYC. Am I right or wrong?
So, do you feel safer in NYC or London? Thanks!
