Depends on what you want to get done,

If it is simply to attend services than go where you please.

Ceremonies like Marriages, Baptisms, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Saying of the Prayers for a deceased family member etc. -- Take on a different approach if you are not a member of the Parish.

There are locations here in NYC where if you try to get a 'Ceremony' done the local church they will check to see if you are a member of the Parish, if you are not a member they will tell you to go to 'your Parish'. Is there ways around this? You bet there are! However it may cost you a donation.

You can always go to the rectory and become a member of the parish--it doesn't matter where you live either. I know people who live in NYC and belong to a parish on Long Island and go there every Sunday.
