We will be travelling in the summer and visiting the main attractions. we are totally relient on public transport so would like to get some idea of costs, accessibility, locations, safety, etc of this. Could anybody inform me of the local bus or metro service and prices, etc? Thanks

not within a few miles of the beach, but right on the beach.
and not an RV park, we need to be able to pitch a tent.
if you have the specific names of the camping parks or even a website, that would be very helpful
southern california meaning between LA and San Diego, on the coast.
thanks

My girlfriend and I will like to go Camping for Memorial Day. Somewhere around Los Angeles. We are thinking of a place not so crowded where you can have some space and nice landscape. Anyone know of a good place and if I have to make reservations or how much is it. Hopefully it isnt too late.

It seesm like it is always so crowded and I have two small children. Where would be a good place for us to plant ourselves to see the whole show?

I may be relocating to the Los Angeles area soon from the midwest and would like some recommendations for safe, affordable neighborhoods. I will be working in the North Hollyood area, adn my wife and I would prefer a commute 1 hour or less, and a single-family home (not a condo or apartment). Any recommendations are appreciated.

My hubby will be on transit for 5 hours in LAX. He has never been to LA and would like to visit places or go shopping to kill time rather than sit at the airport alone.

So my wife and I are planning a trip to L.A. sometime this summer. We will be arriving via the Sunset Limited at Union Station. Planning 4 nights in the area.

I have read the recent questions and answers on what to do, see, etc THANKS for some great info to you regulars!

We love architecture, film noir and classic Hollywood, museums, ethnic eats, flea markets and antique/junk shops, etc. Rose bowl flea market?

We plan on a day at Disney and Universal studios. We are daily walkers, 5 miles/day and could easily do 10-12 miles. I plan on getting a car, but would like suggestions on walking tours that don't take us through the ghetto...can we get a car at the train station?

Also, are there any interesting, historic or unique hotels, like restored boutique hotels, located in a good central area? I can budget $150-200 per night

We are not star watchers....I know this is sacriledge in L.A., but I have no interest whatsoever in seeing any famous people who are alive, LOL.

If you move to LA/SoCal and want to live in a decent area, is it possible to survive on a first year teacher's salary (about $40,000/year)? Rent is astronomical and I have student loans. Is this even plausible?
