I have found so far that everything that I have experienced in the OC (scenery, surf, jobs, ect.) has been positive, except the people. Why are people in the OC so smug, judgmental, and self-centered? They act like they are better than everyone else in So Cal and in the country. Why can't they be cool, friendly, and laid-back like people in San Diego? Most of the people there are not rich (except the idiots in Newport who pay over $3,000,000 for a shack on the beach), so why are ALL people of ALL classes in the OC fake and shallow?

Every since I moved to So Cal, I have heard many people talk about or mention the San Fernando Valley. They all act like it is this "cool place" to go to. I went there a few times and drove around. From what I saw, the valley is a completely run-down s*** hole. Even South-Central neighborhoods look nicer than the ones in the valley. The people in the valley act like they live in paradise. The only thing that the valley seems to be know for is the porn industry (which as a young guy who actually has decent morals, I do not support). That and the fact that it is also an industrial wasteland makes it an even bigger crap hole. So why do people act like "the valley" is the place to be in LA? Also, the title of "the valley" actually belongs to the Central Valley of California, so why do people refer to the San Ferando Valley as "the valley?"

It's really confusing cause some people are like "it's a man" and others are like "that's nonsense"
just like the thing about cracking your knuckles and getting arthritis.

I'm coming from a small (pop. 130,000) town in Kansas, and I am moving to L.A. this summer. I need to know what it's like there. What is an easy (and decent paying) job to get? What does everyone do in their free time? I'm nervous about the crime rate...ours is pretty low, per capita. That's the kind of stuff I want to know. Any clues you could offer would be wonderful! Thanks, all!

Me and my family are staying in Anahiem from March 30th-April 3rd and were wanting to swim in the ocean and lay out on some sand. Any information about parking or admission prices would be helpful. We are willing to drive up to an hour away from our hotel in Anahiem if needed. I was hoping for a beach that is fairly clean (not too much litter), and no biting sharks or peronas, also maybe a public potty. lol. We just want to have fun and relax. Any detailed info about the beaches would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help! :)

I am in the process of moving to LA, but everyone that I talk to that is from the area always tell me LA is wayyyyyyyyyyy to expensive, or you have to have a degree, or be this, or have that...blah...I don't know if it's just the people I talk to, but it is almost like they are stuck up. I can say, I'm from a more upper class area than LA's top areas. I also have a degree in marketing from one of the top schools in the country, not to mention I have an amazing resume. Is this how most LA people are?

I'm trying to go to a community college in LA.
And I want to know if that's worth it. Also, can I choose a major I want after I get into one of the UCs.

We are visiting for the first time in April and are staying at the Rennaissance Hotel in Hollywood. I have read mixed reports on the area and would like to get some real advice. We wanted to do some sight seeing like the Universal Studios, Mullholland Drive, Rodeo Drive and maybe a couple of Stars Homes. Also I would like to go down to Venice Beach for a few hours. Obviously we dont know how far away these places are and would be prepared to take a taxi. If the area is bad then it would be good to do our sightseeing during the day and then get back in evening in plenty of time to eat locally without us being unsafe. Can anyone help?
