Can anyone tell me what exactly there is to do in Palm Springs? My wife and I have done the aerial tram, which was great. What else? We took a drive along what appeared to be the main road, Palm Canyon Drive.. is that the downtown? If not where is the downtown? We arent golfers, so what else is there to do? What other resorts are there not related to golf?Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

A Spanish teacher
was explaining to her class
that in Spanish, unlike English,
nouns are designated as either
masculine or feminine.

'House'
for instance,
is feminine:
'la casa.'

'Pencil,'
however,
is masculine:
'el lapiz.'

A student asked,
'What gender is 'computer'?'

Instead of giving the answer,
the teacher split the class into two groups,
male and female,
and asked them to decide
for themselves whether
'computer'
should be
a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked
to give four reasons
for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that
'computer'
should definitely be
of the feminine gender
('la computadora'),
because:
1. No one but their creator
understands their internal logic;

2. The native language
they use to communicate
with other computers is
incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes
are stored in long term memory
for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make
a commitment to one,
you find yourself spending
half your paycheck
on accessories for it.

( THIS GETS BETTER !)

The women' s group,
however, concluded
that computers should be Masculine
('el computador'),
because:
1. In order to do anything
with them,
you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data
but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed
to help you solve problems,
but half the time
they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one,
you realize that if you
had waited a little longer,
you could have gotten
a better model.

The women won

My sister-in-law lives in Newport Beach Orange county and we will be going there on Good Friday.
What things are the most important things to see. (in order)
I'm not looking for a lie on the beach as nice as it might be, I can do that in France. I'm looking for sightseeing things to do as I'm only there for a short time.

Right now, it looks like I will be working from an office in Anaheim, and my wife very probably in San Gabriel. Looking for family-type of areas. Both of us are used to driving a long distance commute (up to 45 min) but not congestion. Thanks for any help.

What part of LA should I live in? I am a single gal movingto LA from San Francisco. I am looking to live in a safe, fairly quiet neighborhood. I am going to be working for home, so commuting is not a problem, but I still don't want to be an area that is jam packed with traffic.

So far people have suggested Los Feliz, Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale.

I would like to be near Burbank, since I have friends there.
