Right now, it looks like I will be working from an office in Anaheim, and my wife very probably in San Gabriel. Looking for family-type of areas. Both of us are used to driving a long distance commute (up to 45 min) but not congestion. Thanks for any help.

It looks like either way, someone is going to have to commute through traffic.

First of all, the first poster is incorrect, as well as propogating a stereotype. There are areas with Asians that have low crime, and other areas with Asian gangs, so crime is a problem.

Your best bet is to try someplace in the middle. I happen to like Brea, which is about 8 miles from Anaheim. La Habra is also a good choice, especially closer to the hills. (Both are in OC). In Other good choices would be Whittier, Rowland Heights, and La Mirada. Start looking there, and you should be able to find something that suits you.

first of all, Santa Monica,Burbank and North Hollywood are WAY too far to commute!

Anaheim and San Gab are a good 30 miles apart. Looking a map, i would recommend looking around the north orange county area.

And you're right in your thinking that 45 minute without traffic is the same as 45 minutes in traffic. Regardless, you will have a killer commute.

Anaheim is in Orange County, which is a nice place to live especially with a family. Personally, I would not look for a home in LA county, stick to Orange County. All around better quality of life there.

Anywhere where there are lots of Asians. The crime rate is low in Asian communities and good value on real estate.
