we are going to los angeles in sept for 4 weeks will be staying in hollywood anyone ever been there and whats it like

I would reccomend checking out Hollywood, Malibu, and Beverly Hills. Stay away from Compton, and East L.A. Lots of crime back there. Have fun!

Hollywood is full of tourists. It's not as dirty as people say. It is bad, but not that bad if you stay where the action is. Are you staying on Hollywood Blvd? Check the address and google earth it to see if it's near the Chinese Theater. If it is you're cool. There are people and police out at all hours of the day and night. Once you start drifting west of that towards Little Armenia is when it's not so glamorous. And if you go east of that you'll run into Beverly Hills which neighbors Hollywood. Don't stay on Sunset. That's where most of the drug/prostitution goes on unless you're way east on Sunset towards the Roxy.

Hollywood is not the best place to stay, unless you're at the Mondrian. But LA is fantastic and there's tons to see. The Getty Museum is great. I'm sure you will do the usual touristy stuff, the walk of fame, Mann's Chinese, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. Don't buy a map to the homes of the stars as most of these are old and out-dated. Venice Beach and Santa Monica are great places to visit as well.

I used to live in Los Angeles but L.A is not as great as you think. There are some Areas You shold avoid like South Central L.A, Poverty, Gang Villice, and Drug Dealers, East L.A is the Same but most of the city is vary nice. Downtown is vary pretty with its Sky Scrappers and The San Frenado Vally is Nice to.

Hollywood is like when your friend tells you " You have got to go see this greatest movie ever" and somehow it never meets your overly built up expectations. But there is a ton of other stuff to see in L.A. in addition to Hollywood. So that is the good news....Have Fun...

Hollywood I am afraid is a little seedy. You might enjoy Universal studios and stay in Ventura or Newport beach.

Right now it is not haveing the best weather in the world but it might be sunny in 4 weeks. There are not a lot of fat people there are some but not alot

Hollywood proper is dirty and full of bums and hookers. Bel Aire and Beverly Hills etc. is where more of the elite are found along with Malibu and the Pacific Coast.
