can anyone recommend a good (and reasonably priced) hotel near Universal Studios? Is Burbank too far away to stay?

The Beverly Garland Hotel is WONDERFUL! The benefits are that they have a shuttle that will take you to Universal and back... free-... Their prices are fair and equal to what you would expect, but not high. They have a restaurant on grounds and a pool. They also have a kids suite with bunk beds and gaming systems to play. Hands down, I would stay there next time I go back.
So often too, you will have an opportunity to see some old time stars that frequent the restaurant and hotel.

the Beverly Garland is lovely. I just went ot a wedding there and is was very nice. Burbank is just next to Universal.
