Are you talking Greater L.A. (including surrounding communities) or just Los Angeles itself? If you mean Greater L.A., there are plenty of nice communities that offer the things you want in the San Fernando Valley. You might try Sherman Oaks and Studio City first. Lots of shopping, nightlife, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. in those areas. Young and trendy in spots yet still 'established' with older homes too. For $1000/month you will definitely need roommates, but it's that way pretty much anywhere in SoCal.

Enjoy! I lived there in my 20s and had a blast.

There are many active areas of LA. Your budget sounds ok as long as you have at least 2 roommates, all of you paying $1000 per month.

Don't forget other expenses when you're here - it's horrible!! There aren't really apartment complexes. Stick to the West side and look on Craigslist.

you will not find a place close to the action for 1000. in fact, the only places you can find for 1000 are run down places for the most part or in undesired cities. you're looking more at somewhere around $2000+ at least!

la Piedad does have followers. analyze as quickly as we performed in first branch in 2001. the only reason there exchange into none on the magnificent at Neza is by way of the fact they didnt prefer to sell tickets to la Piedad. however the worst area is that the owner lied to us.

by one grand, are you saying that is your budget for rent?
i hope is not your gross income for the month, or you're in for a rude awakening.

my general rule of thumb, try to live as close as is reasonably possible to your job. if you don't any savings you may have in rent will be eaten up by gas.

the birds nest is great but you might have room mates, because bragging will get you to the nearest tree top.
