What part of LA should I live in? I am a single gal movingto LA from San Francisco. I am looking to live in a safe, fairly quiet neighborhood. I am going to be working for home, so commuting is not a problem, but I still don't want to be an area that is jam packed with traffic.

So far people have suggested Los Feliz, Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale.

I would like to be near Burbank, since I have friends there.

Burbank is a nice town. I grew up there! But for a San Fransiscan, it might be a little slow for ya.
Studio City is pretty close to Burbank, and it has a lot of restaurants, bars, and shopping.
It's the place a lot of people live who like the culture of the west side, but don't want to deal with the parking and crowds.
You might look at Toluca Lake too. Very close to Burbank.

It is not nice living in a city without any friends. It would be best if you stay there in Burbank so that they can help you with the ins and outs in the place.
I also suggest that you take a vacation and drive over that area over the weekend before finally settling down there. It is only you yourself who can decide on that.
Camarillo and Simi Valleys are also nice options. It is nice passing by Malibu to break the monotony of daily life.

Silverlake and/or Los Feliz are great neighborhoods! They are pretty safe, very central to everywhere in Los Angeles and close to a lot of cool restaurants, cafes and bars. And it's pretty close to Burbank. good luck.

Yeh somewhere in or between Glendale and Burbank would be perfect....and since you work from home you have eliminated 1 of L.A.'s biggest drawbacks...so you should do great....
