I'm going to L.A. tonight from Orange County. Will the 405 be crowded at like 8 o'clock in L.A. by 90 W area? Should I just go straightaway up the 405 N for like 50 miles or shoudl i take ........ 91 W to 605 N to 105 W to 405 N to 90 W???

I drive 405 a lot. Choosing a route is always a gamble. But I'd suggest 405 before you try 91. I've had more trouble on 91 (crowded at 2 AM!!) than 405 (bad but usually moving).

I drive this route everyday and taking the 405 is your best bet. Although the others are ok, you risk delays at all of the junctions. You will not incur any bottlenecks along the 405 route.

The 5 is a bad option because there isn't a carpool lane for most of the route. I used to get excited to take the 5 when traveling to LA from OC, but know avoid it at all costs.

8pm the traffic will be heavy but it should be moving ok so long as there isnt an accident.

It's definately the fastest way to LA from Orange so I'd stick with the 405.
