Hollywood Bl and Sunset Bl are east-west street and they get major traffic every day during peak hours. But the street mostly run at the northern part of hollywood. The major east-west street starting at the top before the Cahuenga Pass is Franklin, Hollywood, Fountain, Sunset, Santa Monica, and Melrose.

Sunset begins in downtown and runs west all the way to the ocean. The "Sunset Strip" portion of Sunset runs between Hollywood & Beverly Hills (on the West Side). Hollywood Blvd is a few blocks north of Sunset, but only runs through Hollywood itself.

those two streets are two of Los Angeles's "main drags" which run east-west, through the heart of Hollywood (Sunset even goes further west).

if you go on Hollywood blvd. , but get too west, you'll end up in this weird neighborhood called "Laurel Canyon"

if you go on Sunset but keep going west, you could eventually end up all the way in Malibu

They just go right through it east-west. I suppose Sunset is a bit south.
