So I decided the places in Salem were stupidly overpriced for October and opted to stay in Hull, MA for our honeymoon. We are staying at the Nantasket Beach Clarion Hotel and Spa. I know it isn't too far from Boston, but I'd like to spend some time in Hull as well. Any recommendations? From what I've read it's a quaint little beach town with lots of little shops and such.

Did you know that if you go down to South Station, you will find donation boxes for servicemen and servicewomen overseas? Also posted are particular items that are especially sought after, such as sunblock, deodorants, playing cards, hard candies, disposable razors, etc. If you have EVER said, 'Yes, I support the troops...', no matter how you ended that sentence, PLEASE go by South Station, and give as much as you can. Will you do this today and tomorrow [Wednesday & Thursday, July 18 & 19]?

We will be attending a conference and touring the area in October. We will also be going to Cape Cod, Rhode Island, and lower Vermont and New Hampshire. We love to find small mom and pop cafes and interesting sites beyond the main tourist attractions. We are history buffs, if that helps.

I'm really not into the whole historical aspect of the city, and I don't like art museums, it's not my thing.
What can we do or see that's fun/interesting in the city?
Are there any beaches?
What are some good (not too expensive) restaurants?
Anything unique that they fail to mention on travel sites?

We must rely on public transportation. We are 3 women over 30. No sports events. We'd like historical sites, art, parks, unique/unusual sites. Good food! Thanks for the help.

We just returned from a trip to Boston and we walked the Freedom Trail. On the way we noticed that there were pieces of trash, such as newspapers, that were bronzed on the streets. Does anyone know the story behind this? I could not find anything on the net. Thanks!
